One more thing to get used to. Thanks for the warning. It's looking like either a restaurant or a store if I want decent pay, so now I just wait for someone to call me back.

I wasn't expecting there to be so much waiting involved. How hard is it to pick someone to wipe tables?

I had to get used to that when I came to the States. Horribly wasteful. Frustrating huh?

It can be plenty of multitasking.

Very frustrating. Especially since I keep worrying here that it'll suddenly be gone.

I can multitask. I think. I'm walking and texting, that's gotta be a start.

The food? I don't think they'd make us starve. I certainly didn't consent to that.

Didn't you just learn how to use a phone? It's crossing the street that worries me.

Where are you headed next? Or are you going home?

[ There's no answer to that one, for just long enough that Sheva might start to wonder if Ramse wasn't practicing safe texting after all... but then who should step through the door into the bench area of the range? ]

Hey there. I thought I'd surprise you.

[She's a bit curious, but she's not about to bother him and get him hurt if he's actually listening to her. When the door opens Sheva glances up, squinting at him and shaking her head while frowning down a smile.]

This isn't creepy at all Ramse.

[There may be an attempt at a serious expression, but she's definitely teasing him.]

Looking to shoot a bit?

[ He beams at her, knowing it's teasing. And knowing she's hiding a smile. ]

I'm super creepy, what with you telling me where you worked and then saying you were at work and all.

[ Closing the door behind him and stepping in, he takes in the range. It's well maintained, very nice... he's never actually been on a range before, but he figures this is a good one. The targets are already set up at the far end and the lone shooter Sheva mentioned is nowhere to be found... maybe he's taking a break, but it's good for him, it means they can hear each other. ]

Sure. I don't have a gun on me, but if you can lend me one...?

[How dare he see past her horrible disguise.]

You do know that's not an invitation how I phrased it exactly, right? Don't try that with other people. They might call the cops. If they do take you in, ask for Piers.

[Of course she knows people on the Eudio police force, which she thinks is a relative pleasure cruise compared to what most of the volunteers on the force have done back home. Fear not creepy stalker Ramse, she'll bail him out and tease him mercilessly.

And the loner? He left just before his arrival, so he has her all to himself.]

That's what we do here. [She motions for him to follow her.] What are you looking to shoot?

It wasn't not an invitation. Maybe I'm not even here for you, maybe I just really wanted to shoot things. [ Which he's already proven a lie by not having a gun. There's a beat. ] So I should ask for Piers, huh?

[ He's joking again. But while it's unlikely anyone will actually call the cops on him for showing up places, it's good to know the name of someone on the force. And the number of someone who will bail you out, teasing or no teasing.

Ramse follows her, still taking in the range. He shrugs. ]

The target? [ No, no. ] Uh, I can probably shoot just about anything you've got. Make it a challenge.

Not here for me? [There's a bit of a show where she looks around for anyone else. Even makes a slight show of it, returning her extremely amused expression over to him in a silent 'who?'.]

What about the weapon? [She grins over at him as she shifts to dig a ring of keys out of the pocket in her skinny jeans. They're more difficult to swipe that way, not that anyone would really get away with stealing them from her in the first place. No one human at least. She'd like to keep theft rate at zero.

Unlocking the room where they keep the weapons, Sheva stepped inside to peruse the locker.] Why don't you tell me what sort of weapons you've shot previously... Which ones you were best at? I'll find you something fun and new.

[ Ramse smiles and hangs back while she's in the locker, listing off a couple models of semi-automatic handguns and rifles that he knows he likes and can handle without practice shots; they're mostly heavier guns, things you can really feel in your grip when you're shooting and your belt when you're not. He's curious what she'll pick, and peers into the locker. ]

You've got a range in there?

[She's listening, taking inventory of what the range had versus his verbal list, picking one out that was on both as well as another that's not. He'll find it fun, or so she believes. A couple boxes of ammunition, which she hands to him to carry while she has the guns, and they're set.]

We do. Variety is the spice of life, or so they say. [Sheva cocks an eyebrow at him as she leads him to the firing range portion.] Fair warning, I don't go easy on people.

[ Ramse takes what's passed to him and follows Sheva back to the firing range, setting the ammo down on the bench she chooses and examining the unfamiliar gun. He smiles at her comment. ]

No? Fair warning back, my form's probably shit.

[ It's been too long for him to remember, honestly... how he shoots works and he's a good shot, but the rights and wrongs and dos and don'ts are blurry in his head. It's just what's right for him now.

He waits for Sheva to give him instructions and a gun, curious which one she'll pick first and what she'll tell him to do. ]

[Sheva's not surprised to hear that, but her slight smirk may be a bit odd at the moment. Except she's thought of a way to torment him for dropping in unannounced. Nothing too rude.]

Well I can help with that.

[It's her job after all. Though it might throw off his accuracy, but that's something that returns with relative ease if he works at it properly. It's all up to him really.

She hands him the one he mentioned with her hand on the barrel, butt of the gun towards Ramse. Once he takes it, she motions to the cans in the booth. Ear protection on there friend. Sheva has plugs she rolls between her fingers before tucking into her ear.]

Load and fire so I can see how you shoot.

[ Why's she smirking..? Ramse sets the gun down on the bench and grabs a pair, putting them on with one just slightly back so he can still hear her. ]

What's the look for? I'm probably better than you think, if that's what it means.

[ He loads the mag quickly and skillfully, settling the second earphone on before raising the gun and looking to her to make sure he's ready for firing -- there's no one else around to have to make sure it's clear. When she nods he'll shoot, the first two going a bit wide in either direction before settling at the center of the target in a nice neat grouping. ]

It's a secret. [She quips back simply as she pops in the second of the plugs. Pure innocence. Only not at all and he probably can tell, but there's nothing threatening in her stance, voice, or expression.

As he shoots, Sheva watches and steps a bit closer to get a better line of sight behind him. When his first two go wide, she leans in and gently places her hands on his arms to correct his hold just a bit. They'll move over his shoulders and then down to his hips, where she'll take a firmer grip as she adjusts his stance.]

[ There is no innocence there, but as long as there's no threat either he's pretty sure he'll enjoy whatever she's planning. Sure enough, the hands that run down his back and settle on his hips are welcome even if they're also distracting -- but they don't affect his shooting. The weapon in his hands is the priority, after a life of shooting for it despite being uncomfortable or injured. Ramse just loosens up and lets her pose him into a proper stance before adjusting his aim again, the cluster of shots tightening as he finishes the clip.

He lowers the weapon back to the bench and shifts his earphones again, putting his other hand over Sheva's where it still rests on his hip. Well? ]

[Sheva's mildly impressed that it doesn't affect his shooting, but that's the thing with survivors, missing isn't something that one does. Not when it can lead to death. It's difficult to take away from that sort of ingrained focus, but she learned from both herself and others not to let the focus consume someone as well. Her smile grows when the little adjustment yields results, proud not only that he improved but that he listened to her non-verbal suggestion.

When he places his hand over hers, she extends her fingers to slip in through his, squeezing gently with a slight nod to a job well done.]

[ Their fingers curl together and Ramse smiles, turning a little so he can look at her. She's got his full focus now that he's not shooting, congratulations Sheva. ]

So the next one's the test?

[ He's curious about the next gun she picked, and why, but he's also in no rush to test it. ]

[She's generally quite good at that when she tries. Sometimes it even happens when she doesn't too. His hand receives a bit of a squeeze as she nods to his question.]

S&W M500. Fair warning, it has one hell of a kick.

[So he best brace himself.]

Yeah? I can handle it.

[ He does appreciate the warning, though. His fingers slide over Sheva's as he pulls his hand back and reaches for the second gun and its ammo to load it. While he's no stranger to revolvers, he can count the times he's used magnum rounds.

Ramse replaces his earphones and gives Sheva a little nod of warning before he lifts the gun, aiming for the target next to the one he's already torn up. The shot is loud even with the ear protection, and Sheva wasn't kidding about the kick. He lets his shoulder roll back smoothly to take it, and gives himself an extra moment to re-aim before the next trigger pull. The next four shots are one after the other, his grouping wider than with the familiar gun but still impressive.

This time after finishing what's in the gun and setting it down he tugs his earphones around his neck, squinting at the target to check how he did. ]
